URL limits in browsers location bar

I thought it was interesting to see that some people actually tested the length of URLs in different browsers. You have to know that the size of a URL in the location bar may be differently limited than the length of the URLs you can go to with the browser (i.e. the URL in an anchor may need to be shorter! Or could be longer and still work.)

Note: These are Browsers limits in 2006.

Javascript: setTimeout()

The other day, I wrote a module for Drupal. Up to here, no problem. What I wrote required a small amount of Javascript to make a dropdown menu feature work. That worked just fine under Mozilla and FireFox, and even Safari & Konqueror.

When I tried with Internet Explorer, nope. Not working at all.

The function I was using goes like this:

    Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure—The protocol used by browsers to communicate to web servers securely. The security is done with similarly to SSH. The transfer uses FTP like commands, but only one connection. Since HTTP 1.1 it is also possible to reuse the same connection for multiple files (pages, images, videos, etc.)
