Page list for Drupal

  • In the last few days I have been working on a small project to get a really nice form for one of my sites. The form uses a lot of JavaScript for all sorts of fancy things (such as check user input to make sure we don't accept total crap such as an empty entry or just "1" as a credit card number.)

The information finds itself in an IFRAME, which was the easiest way to get the time to load at decent speed and  to better manage the form in a separate area and not the main landing page. This will make it easier to maintain the landing page itself.

    however, that created ...

  • In the last 3 days I've been working on a new page and ran in some strange problem. There was an error in the console but things seemed to otherwise work just fine so I ignored it (since it wasn't in my own code...)

That error was an unhandled jQuery error which resulted in "let's stop the JavaScript at once." This meant all the page initialization failed (or did not occur.) The code was there otherwise. What give?!

The script in question was loaded from a hidden IFRAME, something like this:

      <div style="display: none;">
        <iframe ...
  • Quite often, I write documents that require a logo from a brand such as Microsoft or Apple. Here I have link that take me to the pages were I can get the logos. The following are links to the logos of different companies I work with. If you have some, feel free to share! The list is in alphabetical order.

    • Apple

    • Made to Order Software Corporation

  • This page has empty paragraphs at the top (before this line), at the bottom and in between each paragraphs. In a way, this is a weird module!

It use the MO Paragraph trimmer filter1, written in PHP for Drupal 6.x, to remove all of those empty paragraphs. Sadly, there isn't a good way for you to check the page source, but you can test by posting a comment (I think...)

    The idea ...

  • I created a website and handed it to a customer... without realizing that the customer could not edit the pages of his site.

He reported the problem and I was rather surprised since I had not installed any module that would protect the editing of pages based on a role... what could it be? I checked the Drupal permissions a couple times... he had the right to edit all the nodes, his own and anyone else's, hmmm...

I looked at the code to try to figure it out, and there is a call to the filter module: filter_access($node->format).

Yes! Of course! I had forgotten to add his role to the ...

  • Today, I had to fix an installation of MySQL.

There were several problems, and I finally got it to work. Somehow, I had to run some commands manually to cleanly shutdown the cluster server and then re-run the configuration script with dpkg:

  • Hmmm... Okay... so Facebook has a latency, but ping.fm does not seem to take anything in account!?

I'm wondering whether ping.fm checks the PTR (whatever that is, hey?!) and if incorrect, refuses to forward the post. That would make sense since the PTR is 99% of the time wrong when spammers send emails.

Well! Today it worked 8-) After more than 7 tests because I did not always increment that number, but still. That's good. I'm moving forward. More soon!

This is the title of your node: [].

  • All of last week I've been looking for the solution to a bug in one of my numerous websites.

The problem was that after registering, a user would get an error saying that the PostgreSQL connection was lost. I had never had that with Drupal and yet, it would be 100% consistent.

I tested the new code several times and had no problems with it, so I was really dismayed that all of a sudden it stopped working.

After quite some time, I finally decided that my new code was the culprit. Weird. It was. It does the same thing as one of the Core modules and yet it breaks the PostgreSQL ...

  • PAD File Module for Drupal

    Introduction

You can find my PAD File module on Drupal.

It is intended for any company and individual that has executable files for download but its customers and potential customers. The PAD File describes the content of such executable to the target machine (robots that spider the Internet for PAD Files).

With the module you can create, import, update and delete PAD Files as necessary. It automatically generates the XML files and maintains them on your website without you having to do anything about it.

    It is also intended ...

  • I suppose we could talk about security all day and only barely touch the tip of the iceberg, if even more than a spec of it.

Yet, I wanted to mention that in many instances, there are such limits to the characters you can use in a password that already the provider prevents you from creating a string password in the first place!

So... what is it I'm talking about?

I have one company I work with that does not support anything more than letters and digits. Not only that, they limit your password between 6 and 10 characters. Everyone knows that 6 characters is cracked very very quickly and
